5 ways to make entrepreneurship tangible in the classroom

By Maarten Kasanmoerawi · · 1 min read

Entrepreneurship often stays abstract in a textbook. These five ideas make it concrete, with Venture Square as the practice ground.

1. Let students choose

A pizzeria, a fashion store or an electronics store: students who choose their own business immediately own their choices.

2. Start with a business plan

Have students write a plan and a SWOT analysis first. In Qoinomics, their business only opens once you have approved the plan.

3. Make the steps real

Registering with the Chamber of Commerce, a business account, VAT: in the city, students actually go through these steps instead of reading about them.

4. Change the economy

Switch on a scenario, such as a boom or inflation, and discuss together what it does to revenue and profit.

5. Discuss the results

Use the dashboard to compare the class figures. What worked? What did not? That is where the real lesson is.

Don't just teach students what entrepreneurship is. Let them experience how it works.
